In April 2007, Jonathan Cooper (BME) and Chris McWilliams (BME) were inducted into the Music Honor Fraternity, Pi Kappa Lambda.

Chris McWilliams (BME) and Luis Rivera (BME 07) were selected to perform in the 2007 WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra in Killarney, Ireland. The ensemble will perform, among other works, the Schwantner Percussion Concerto with Evelyn Glennie as the soloist.

Jeff Willis, Omar Carmenates and Thad Anderson formed The Bravura Percussion Trio in the spring of 2005 in Texas. They have performed concerts and master classes at UT-Austin, Baylor, UL-Monroe and TCU and have also been working on a percussion CD project with Professor Jeff Moore. On November 13, 2005, the Trio performed Russell Peck's concerto for percussion trio and orchestra, The Glory and the Grandeur, with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra in Monroe, LA. Clif Walker, Director of Timber Creek High School, won the High School PAS Call for Tapes and performed at the 2005 PASIC Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

Brian Baldauff (BME 05) performed Marimba Spiritual with Timber Creek at the 2005 PASIC Convention in Columbus, Ohio.

This is a department wide competition that has two rounds with the finals being evaluated by adjudicators from outside the university. The competition is to select the best performer in the department and award them up to $1500.
